explaining the joke, long Show more
everybody who has a sole despises the windows registry. it's a huge fucking pain in the ass to use. when a guide says "open regedit" you know you're in for a bad time. it was introduced in windows 3.1 and it remained exactly the same from windows 95 all the way up to 8.1. it was finally updated in windows 10: they added a navbar. that's it.
UX-wise, it's awful. philosophically, it's awful. if you don't hate regedit then you have either given up on life because you've been forced to use it for years, or you're a Windows Stan who will defend anything and everything they do.
there are a bunch of "hives" (the word they used for folders. they called them hives because someone on the dev team had a fear of been so they thought it'd be funny to be a dick to him. this is not a joke. https://blogs.msdn.microsoft.com/oldnewthing/20030808-00/?p=42943) to the windows registry. one of the most used ones for editing shit is HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE, or HKLM for short. it "drives her crazy" because it reminds her that the windows registry exists.
