work in progress art thingy that discusses e.g. suicide and depression

i've been making some little "art" pieces about depression in the information age. the idea is that a lot of the systems we use feel overly friendly and cheerful as if they were conversing with us, such as facebook greeting you with a "good morning" or how phone voice assistants respond with witty quips when asked questions like "do you like me" or "what's your favourite colour".

the images i'm making imagine a future where this trend gets out of control, and the cold, analytical nature of tech takes on a much more sinister and negative form. they deliberately evoke both modern (material, fluent, flat) design trends and potential future ones (brutalism).

i'm really surprised and happy to see all the people who enjoy this :blobbun_happy:

You're amazing, literally. I adore you and the skill you have. Never forget that ❤️❤️❤️

work in progress art thingy that discusses e.g. suicide and depression

@lynnesbian There's so much gibberish I could write about this. I think it's fun to frame as the rise of a consumer-centric Apple aesthetic that replaced a corporate-centric Microsoft aesthetic. It coincides with a lot of other things. I specifically remember wondering in 2010ish where we'll be when this style starts feeling tired and oppressive because it's inevitable. Anyways, great stuff since it really made me stop and think.

work in progress art thingy that discusses e.g. suicide and depression

@lynnesbian I took them for real at first glance.

work in progress art thingy that discusses e.g. suicide and depression

@lynnesbian
Thank you for doing this to raise awareness about the relationship between bastardised technology made with the wring attitude, and mental health.

re: work in progress art thingy that discusses e.g. suicide and depression

@lynnesbian Holy crap. This is both terrifying and moving. It's dystopian, but in a way that feels all to real and possible.

I love it, keep going.

work in progress art thingy that discusses e.g. suicide and depression

@lynnesbian Awesome! It doesn't even feel that much faked. :D
