some of homestuck's music is fantastic and you absolutely can listen to almost all of it without knowing anything about what a katkat venti is
and just when young me had wrapped her head around the existence of the alien concept of "music with more than four beats per measure"
fuckin,, calamity comes along with its rapidly changing and outlandish time signatures and then right at the end they hit you with ten seconds of fuckin free time
"how can they play music not to a beat," i screamed through tears, "it's not real, it's illegal, i'm confused and scared,"
@lynnesbian Now tell me what beat some of Mertzbow's stuff has.
@lynnesbian I didn't notice anything unusual about /Calamity/ at all
nor any of the others I listened to
@moonbolt "calamity" in particular definitely has some weird time signatures
this video goes into some examples of songs in games with weird time signatures: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5JRojRIA1ng&t=640s
@lynnesbian finally getting around to reading homestuck, this put me over the edge
this is depressing as all hell but
homestuck is probably the first time i ever heard a song that wasn't in 4/4 or 3/4
